55 Rockland students selected to participate in All-County Music Festival

More than four dozen Rockland Central School District students have been selected to participate in the annual All-County Music Festival in March.

Each year, the Sullivan County Music Educators Association hosts the event where top musicians from each district in the county unite to form elite-level choirs and bands. Participating students usually earn their spot via their performance in the New York State School Music Association Solo Festival.

In preparation for the festival, 55 Rockland students will rehearse and prepare with Mrs. Kelly Bullis for Elementary Chorus, Ms. Jordana Maraj for Middle School Band, Junior High Mixed Chorus and Junior High Treble Chorus and Mr. Dan Smith for Middle School Band, Junior High School Jazz Band and Senior High Band.

“We are incredibly proud to have our district represented at the All-County level and congratulate these students on this outstanding accomplishment,” Ms. Maraj said.

Students scheduled to participate are:

Elementary Chorus (Grades 5 and 6)

Josephine Anderes, Leela Bailey, Krystal Bautista-Pineda, Isabella Genovese, Sage Gorr, Thea Green, Sydney Kehrer, Charlotte Lindholm, Kierah Mattingley, Khloe Mershon, Raelee Misner, Whitney Misner, Gabriella Murphy, Olivia Piatek, Savannah Ryder, Savannah Sanderson, Emily Sherman, Emma Smith, Rachel Sprouse, Jenessa Wells and Cheyenne Wolcott.

Middle School Band (Grades 5-7)

Mara Gorr, Rhema Plenty and Mia Rodriguez on flute, Julie-Maye MacManus on clarinet, Noah DeFreitas and Bryce Edwards on alto saxophone, Cora Freidenstine on tenor saxophone and Anthony Heusel on bassoon.

Junior High Mixed Choir (Grade 7-9)

Sopranos Fiona Heusel, Mckenzie Lundeen, Mila Park, Hannah Ryan and Elena Wells and Altos Alivia Brady, Isabella Deans, Taylor Mitchell, Hailey Rogers and Hannah Wilson.

Junior High Treble Choir (Grades 7-9)

Amelia Acosta, Anabella Barrotti, Alyson Sherman and Tera Ward as Soprano 1, Amelia Almquist, Ava McAdams and Jamie Zayas as Soprano 2, and Janine Augustine, Azrael Didrich, Avianna King and Abigail Olivo as Alto.

Junior High Jazz Band (Grades 7-9)


Mason Roberts on drum set, vibraphone and auxiliary percussion.

Senior High Band (Grades 10-12)

Aliya Anderson on flute, Grace Ward on bass clarinet, Victor Peyton on trumpet and Sara Hollenbeck on French horn.


“Being chosen for an All-County honors ensemble is a significant achievement and reflects the dedication, talent and hard work of these students,” Mr. Smith said.

The students will rehearse March 6 with performances taking place March 7 starting at 1 p.m. at Liberty High School. The 1:30 p.m. concert will feature Elementary Chorus and Middle School Band. The Junior High Treble Chorus and Junior High Jazz Ensemble will perform at 3:30 p.m. The concert series will conclude with the 5:30 p.m. concert featuring the Junior High Mixed Chorus and Senior High Band.
